About Open Road Wine Company
It all began innocently enough, with a road trip that happened to take us through Napa for the afternoon. We quickly changed our plans, ending up staying until the point at which we had to drive straight back to work the next day (in Seattle!)
From there, an interest in wine turned into a winemaking hobby, a proposal (in a Napa vineyard,) a UC Davis winemaking program, and in 2009, our first commercial vintage. We are a 2 person operation, notwithstanding our dedicated team of bottling and crush volunteers.
In 2011, our assistant winemaker, Tess, joined us, and has been helping us bottle and run through the vineyard ever since.
After spending time in neutral French oak, our wines are bottled and aged again. But the goal remains the same; taste the grape, the vineyard, the terroir.
